Here’s what’s happened:
The dimensions of the bike have been finished, we were going to meet up with an expert bike fab man to get perfect sitting, but that fell through, so here’s what we’re working with:
Otherwise most of this month has been spent learning the fundamentals of TIG welding on very thin pieces of mild steel (tubing width) and using the milling machine to miter tubing.
This week I intend to begin working on TIG welding the mitered joints.
Today Moss helped me navigate BikeCAD, a 2D modeling software. If Moss had not been there I would have dissociated for a few hours staring at the computer as I have found modeling softwares, broadly, to be incomprehensible. Sadly I can’t use BikeCAD (the 2D modeling software for bikes) on my personal computer because I forgot the password.
I decided on going with a gravel bike inspired design, flat bars because I like those, none of that leaning over back bending stuff for me. I want to channel some 90’s gravel bike aesthetics for this dude. Here’s what we’ve got going on right now:
